Old (Wooden) Synagogue in Piatra Neamt

The region of Moldova and of Piatra Neamt was inhabited for hundreds of years by several communities, among which the Jewish one. From the 23 synagogues of Piatra Neamt, ony 2 survived the Nazi regime. The old synagogue is the interesting one, as it is build entirely out of wood and 2/3 under ground. It is the only synagogue of this type in the world and a visit is definitely worth taking.
